SECOND GENERATOR DELIVERED – TO BE INSTALLED SOON

The second generator for our successful SECCRA Power project has recently been delivered, and is being installed.  It will double the amount of electricity generated by the landfill.  Methane gas, which is the product of the natural decay of trash in the landfill, is combusted to turn a generator, which then makes the electricity.

The generator is manufactured by GE Jenbacher, and contains an internal-combustion, 20-cylinder engine.  The engine cost over $500,000, and grant for $250,000 was received by SECCRA from the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA) for this purpose.  This second generator will pay for itself in about a year, and will generate revenue, which will help keep prices level at the landfill.

When on-line in August 2008, the output of our power plant will be 2 Megawatts.  This is enough electricity to power about 1,000 homes.  All of this electricity is considered "green" because no fossil fuels are used in its generation.
