DOCKSTADER FOUNDATION AWARDS ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS Over $45,000 in environmental grants were recently awarded by the E. Kneale Dockstader Foundation to the Kennett Area Park Authority, Lincoln University/Stroud Labs and the Kennett Township Land Trust. The E. Kneale Dockstader Foundation, funded by SECCRA, promotes activities that make connections and build understanding of our environment in this region, enhance our natural environment and reclaim a common sense of our environment in southern Chester County. The foundation awards grants annually. The Kennett Township Land Trust was awarded a grant for the restoration of the Marshall Mill House Trail Head, which will showcase a restored stream area, native flowers, trees and shrubs as well as a restoration of the miller’s house. Lincoln University and Stroud Water Research Collaboration Project was awarded a grant to fund ecology training for future teachers. Kennett Area Park Authority (KAPA) will perform inventory analysis on natural features, geologic formations, soils, vegetative cover and woodlands at the Anson B. Nixon Park with the grant that they were awarded. Mr. Dockstader served as the Chairman of SECCRA’s Board of Directors for twenty-three years. To honor his commitment, SECCRA created the E. Kneale Dockstader Foundation in 2001. This foundation awards grants annually and hopes to carry on Mr. Dockstader’s commitment to improving the environment in Southern Chester County. |
